Are you ready to harmonize, socialize, and feel alive?  Is it time to plan your Wednesday evenings for the next few months? The Grand Forks Choral Society begins the 2010 / 2011 season with their first practice Wednesday Sept. 8 in the Grand Forks Senior Secondary band room from 7 – 9 p.m. If you have ever considered joining a community choir, now is the time.

Joan Thompson, our music guru, willingly shares her incredible musical knowledge as she directs this large 40 – 60 member non-audition choir. Joan believes that choral singing is key to good health, happiness, and that an appreciation for the world of music is opened through singing together. Who wouldn’t enjoy that? New singing enthusiasts, young and mature, are welcome to join.

The concerts planned for Dec. 4 and 5 with guests Sopranos & Co. and the Sopraninos will be “very traditional” with a twist of “grinch”.  The spring repertoire will focus on music from the 60’s and Motown.

In addition Thompson will be offering classes: “Singers Who Read” for singers learning how to read music via keyboard skills and “Singers Boot Camp” for those singers still unsure about putting their voice on stage. Stay tuned for more information on these Sept. 30 – Nov. 25 classes.

Hope to see you Wednesday Sept. 8!  For more information contact Nanci at 250-442-3935.
