RCMP East Kootenay Traffic Services said a Slocan Valley man died Thursday following a head-on collision on Highway 3 north of Hosmer, BC.

Hosmer is 13 kilometers northeast of Fernie.

Earlier this month I helped out at the Salvation Army Christmas hamper distribution event.  It felt good to play a small part in making hundreds of people have a happier Christmas—healthy food, toys for the kids.  It was especially nice to see boxes of local fruits and vegetables on their way to homes that have a tough time making ends meet.

No one was hurt after fire started in a mobile home in Blewett Wednesday morning said Nelson Fire Rescue in a media release.

A total of 12 firefighters responded to the call at 10:56 a.m. Wednesday.

Nelson Fire Rescue said the report came in to the station of a mobile home on fire in the Blewett contract area.
